Who is executive coaching for?

Executive coaching for managers and business leaders

Executive coaching is suitable for managers, business leaders and entrepreneurs.

It may be useful when you are taking on greater responsibility, managing change, dealing with difficult working relationships or making important business decisions. You may also want to improve your performance before a problem develops.

What issues can executive coaching address?

Coaching can help with:

  • Confidence and self-belief
  • Confident presenting
  • Stress Management & Sress Evaluation
  • Assertiveness
  • Leadership and communication
  • Focus and productivity
  • Decision-making
  • Managing conflict
  • Career or business direction

The work can also address procrastination, perfectionism and other patterns that interfere with effective action.

How does executive coaching work?

Understand your rights, stress at work

Executive coaching is goal-directed and solution-focused. We begin by clarifying the issue, agreeing realistic objectives and identifying what may be getting in the way.

Sessions then focus on practical options, new ways of responding and actions you can apply between appointments. Progress is reviewed and the approach is adjusted according to your needs.

NLP, CBT-informed methods, clinical hypnosis and other therapeutic approaches may be included when appropriate and with your agreement.

How is executive coaching different from therapy?

Coaching usually focuses on present circumstances, future goals and professional performance. Therapy may explore emotional difficulties, earlier experiences or long-standing patterns in greater depth.

The distinction is not always clear. Problems with confidence, authority, conflict or stress may have both professional and personal elements.

Because Bill is an experienced psychotherapist as well as a coach, the work can remain focused on business objectives or include therapeutic work when required. Any change in approach will be discussed with you.

Coaching can provide longer-term professional development or focused help during a crisis, a change of role or a demanding business period.

Is executive coaching confidential?

Your employer has a duty to protect you

The service is fully confidential. Information discussed during sessions will not be shared with your employer or colleagues without your permission, except where disclosure is required by law or serious safety concerns apply.

Employer-funded coaching can also be arranged. Company invoicing is available and the cost may be tax-deductible, although you should confirm this with your accountant. Receipts are listed as “Executive Coaching”.
