Pending: Diploma in Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapy - Practitioner and Master Practitioner Diplomas
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a theory of language, communication and thought developed by therapist Richard Bandler and linguist John Grinder upon which a wide variety of psychotherapeutic techniques are based. NLP theory suggests that how we use language and internal dialogue greatly affects the nature of our experience of life and strongly influences what we believe and value. This in turn affects our behaviour, and our behaviour affects how we choose to think and how other people respond to our behaviour.

His personal approach to Neuro Linguistic Psychology is pragmatic, humanistic and integrative.
This course will probably next be hosted in partnership with the LCCH.
Bandler and Grinder analysed how excellent therapists worked and how they communicated with their patients in order to facilitate change. These expert therapists included hypnotherapist Milton Erickson, family therapist Virginia Satir and Fritz Perls the originator of Gestalt Therapy. Bandler and Grinder also analysed the methods we use to maintain maladaptive behaviours and thought patterns. This resulted in a powerful set of psychotherapeutic tools. Although many of the techniques are designed to change thoughts and behaviours 'in the present', some techniques including Timeline therapy seek to change how we relate to the past.
Most if not all NLP therapy techniques are designed to reinforce the central philosophy that NLP is based on. Aspects of this philosophy include:
- you are in control of how you think, feel and behave
- what you experience is not reality - it is how you are choosing to perceive the external world as influenced by your beliefs, values and past perceptions
- you have all the resources you need; every behaviour has a positive intent
- your mind and your body are indivisible parts of the same system
- if one person can do something, you can learn to do it
- there is no such thing as failure, only feedback
- the meaning of your communication is the response that you receive
- if you keep doing what you're doing now you are very likely to keep getting the same results
If you choose to adopt this core philosophy your studies could very easily be life changing.
