Would I be able to wake myself up from hypnosis if the batteries on my CD player run out half way through the CD?

Yes. Trance is not the same as sleep: You can hear, you can move, you can open your eyes, you can even talk. If the batteries go you can simply open your eyes and decide to be alert. If you fall asleep you will wake up as you would from any other nap.
